Function and Purpose:

A top mark is a three-dimensional symbol installed on the top of a buoy or light beacon in a marine navigation system, assisting vessels in identifying the type of aid to navigation through its specific shape and color. According to the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) regulations, the combination of top marks and buoy colors constitutes the aid-to-navigation identification system. Port-hand lateral marks use red can-shaped top marks, starboard-hand lateral marks use green conical top marks, and special marks use yellow X-shaped top marks.

Product Description:

1.Lateral Marks: Port-hand lateral marks use red can-shaped top marks; starboard-hand lateral marks use green conical top marks. In IALA Region B, the color coding is reversed. Cardinal Marks: North cardinal marks are equipped with two black conical top marks pointing upward; south cardinal marks are equipped with two black conical top marks pointing downward (note: errors in some references should be carefully verified for safety). Safe Water Marks: Spherical top marks combined with red and white vertical stripes.
2.Special Marks: Yellow X-shaped top marks indicate specific regulated areas.
